The Desert Dome is part of the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, NE. I took this in the early afternoon so the sunlight was pretty harsh. Of course, that gave me a good excuse to mess around edit a bit in Lightroom.

I spent a week in Omaha as was able to see the sunrise hitting the Qwest Center everyday. Although actually, it’s more of a picture of the clouds and color of the sky than the actual building itself.
Exposure: 1/320 sec, Aperture: f/8.0, Focal Length: 28 mm, ISO 200

I took about a dozen pictures of our neighbor’s flag on a particularly windy March day. For some reason, this one stood out the most. Perhaps it was because it was an instant in which the wind died down very briefly.

Yes, it has been a great deal of time since my last post. Having two kiddos under the age of two doesn’t leave one with a bunch of free time and I was at one point, pretty certain of shutting the blog down. After some thought however, I felt that I was being lazy and have more than ample time to partake in a hobby that I greatly enjoy. So with that, the blog has been dusted off and will be back up running on July 6th with new images (I know you’re tired of the moose picture, Erik!
) and I’m making more time to get out and actually shoot.
Isaac came home with us on Monday wearing a moose (or rather an outfit with a moose on it). I overexposed by one stop to keep the contrast between his outfit and the white blanket he was laying on.

Finally had a few minutes to peruse the seemingly millions of pictures we took over the weekend with the birth of our son Isaac. He was born on April 11th at 5:18 pm and weighted 8.4 lbs and was 21 inches in length. Other than the first night, things have gone fairly smoothly with much assistance from my mom who was able to help out with watching Samantha. She’s slowing warming up to him and doesn’t cry when he does. She just runs around the house saying “Baby” all day.
From a photography standpoint the lighting in the hospital stinks. For some of the pictures, I used my speedlight set up with my wireless remote trigger to try to get some light in the room (I was able to bounce it off the white ceiling at 1/8th power to at least get some decent shots).
(First Picture: Exposure: 1/160 sec, Aperture: f/3.5, Focal Length: 30 mm, ISO 400 Second Picture: Exposure: 1/40 sec, Aperture: f/2.0, Focal Length: 50 mm, ISO 400)

The view of downtown Omaha from my hotel room. I used a pillow as a “tripod” and the self timer since the exposure was 30 seconds.
Exposure: 30.0 sec, Aperture: f/22, Focal Length: 28 mm, ISO 200

This was the room sign for my home away from home in Omaha in March. I played around with the green color a bit using Lightroom.
