I appreciate the perspective from which you took the picture. Being closer to the ground means I can't see what is below the hill and it makes me really wonder what the rest of the church look like. Nice pic!

Unfortunately, I do not have a macro lens. Add it to the list of things to get. :)

As or the square crop, I didn't try it but I'll check it out. Thanks for the suggestion.

I agree, the b&w version looks better...it removes the colors in the background which I found a little distracting. Do you have a macro lens? I would have liked to see some close-ups of the ice formation. Also, did you try a square crop to remove the empty space in the left of the image...just a thought. Nice job!

I'm really excited for you and the vision that is starting to take shape for you. It's an exciting process to move past merely "taking" photos to "making" compelling images that communicate your unique vision. No doubt both Stanley and duChemin will be great mentors to you as you walk your path. I look forward to hearing more about this new adventure for you, and seeing the fruit as your vision grows.

Nice lens! I looked at the Canon but am leaning towards either the Sigma or Tokina for a wide-angle option. Thanks for the link, I'll have to check it out!
