I’ve been trying to shoot more around the house when I see something interesting. While sitting at the table, I noticed the sun reflecting on our table. Using my Moleskin as a prop, I took a series of photographs shooting wide open just to play with a shallow depth of field. This was my favorite of the group.

I took a 24-hour sabbatical/thinking time at at a local hotel and brought my camera because you never know what you will find. This lamp was in my room and I enjoyed spending time shooting it wide-open. I-94 is in the background out the window.

Minnesota Photo Project: Week 8

While taking some pictures of our kids outside on one of the few warmer days we’ve had, I noticed my daughter’s pine cone birdfeeder she had made in preschool. It was a breezy so I had to shoot quick to avoid too much motion blur. Once in Lightroom, I noticed several had some decent blue for the sky but overall, the shot was a bit boring so I mixed things up a bit to give it a much different look.

A bit delayed on getting this out as a few other projects have kept me busy (and away from my camera.) While walking around the Otsego Regional Park, I noticed how this particular rock was framed by the trees and it seem an interesting composition to experiment a bit with. I was pretty lucky with the birds.

I spent a couple of hours last week hanging out at Otsego Regional Park just walking around and observing. This bit of brush with a drop of snow perched precariously on top caught my attention. I’ll have some further thoughts on the experience later this week.

The temperature bottomed out to -26 the morning I typed this and I needed to see something that reminded me of a time of no snow and obscenely low temperatures. The tree is on the way to our daughter’s preschool and within a week, the leaves were gone.

Minnesota Photo Project: Week 1

It’s been a cold January thus far (is it spring yet) and on one of our cold nights, I noticed this bit of frost on one of our windows. I waited until the next morning and used the macro function of my 28-135mm (memo to self: add macro lens to wish list) to capture this photograph. I used the Direct Positive present in LR2 to make the background blue and the frost to stand out a bit more.
