I was on my way to workout when I stopped for a passing train. Gave me a few minutes to practice some motion blur (image stabilization = greatest invention ever )

I’ve shot this barn several different times in the past but nothing really stood out to me. One day, as I was driving by it, I turned and looked back and saw this angle, which I hadn’t before. It was a good reminder to always move around and explore every possible angle as there might be a better photograph waiting for you.

As for the barn, I imagine what life was like when you didn’t have the other building behind it.

Grantsburg Storm

On July 4th, we went up to Grantsburg, WI to visit with my family as well as check out the damage from the storms that went through on the 2nd. I grabbed my camera and drove around town to photograph some of the damage. I was amazed at the tree destruction and the only way I can describe it is from seeing photographs of tree damage after an artillery shelling. The fact there was not major property damage or injuries in itself is a miracle.

I took a drive up to one of my new favorite spots, the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge and spent an afternoon scouting out some good locations. There were some great clouds which more than made up for the the average lighting.
