With today being Memorial Day, I had originally planned to find something that would be suitable for such an important day to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. As often the case, life doesn’t always follow the plans you lay out.

I never intended this picture to be public with the exception of family nor had any intent on it being part of my year-long photo project. It was taken Father’s Day 2009 and I was getting various family shots to commemorate the day. Little did I know 11 months later how incredibly special this image would become.
