Isaac’s Homecoming Outfit

Isaac came home with us on Monday wearing a moose (or rather an outfit with a moose on it). I overexposed by one stop to keep the contrast between his outfit and the white blanket he was laying on.

Exposure: 1/80 sec, Aperture: f/3.5, Focal Length: 28 mm, ISO 800

Introducing Isaac

Finally had a few minutes to peruse the seemingly millions of pictures we took over the weekend with the birth of our son Isaac. He was born on April 11th at 5:18 pm and weighted 8.4 lbs and was 21 inches in length. Other than the first night, things have gone fairly smoothly with much assistance from my mom who was able to help out with watching Samantha. She’s slowing warming up to him and doesn’t cry when he does. She just runs around the house saying “Baby” all day. :)

From a photography standpoint the lighting in the hospital stinks. For some of the pictures, I used my speedlight set up with my wireless remote trigger to try to get some light in the room (I was able to bounce it off the white ceiling at 1/8th power to at least get some decent shots).

(First Picture: Exposure: 1/160 sec, Aperture: f/3.5, Focal Length: 30 mm, ISO 400 Second Picture: Exposure: 1/40 sec, Aperture: f/2.0, Focal Length: 50 mm, ISO 400)

Wisconsin Capital at Sunset

I spent an evening in Madison last month and was able to spend a little time hanging out downtown by the Capital building. I boosted the red color in the sky and darkened the overall tone using Lightroom.

Joe’s Garage

While out driving around Minneapolis one day for work, I saw this sign. Not sure why it piqued my interest but I drove around the block twice to find a place to park so I could quick take a few pictures. I used Lightroom to boast the color of the red bricks.

Omaha Downtown Nightime

The view of downtown Omaha from my hotel room. I used a pillow as a “tripod” and the self timer since the exposure was 30 seconds.

Room Sign

This was the room sign for my home away from home in Omaha in March. I played around with the green color a bit using Lightroom.

New Glarus Organic Revolution

Spent a little time in Madison last month and was able to enjoy some New Glarus Organic Revolution as well as play with my new wireless flash system, courtesy of the fine folks at AlienBees. The flash is sitting on the table behind and slightly right of the bottle and the flash output was adjusted to 1/64 power. I should have cleaned the desk prior to shooting.

Cloudy Water Tower

I spent a week in Omaha in March and this water tower was on top of some rehabbed condos next to my hotel. This was the only day of the week with the clouds looking like this.
